About us

The Student Democracy of South-Eastern Norway (SDSN) is your formal student body at USN and we work to improve student life here at our university.

Have you been less content with the teaching in one of your courses? Or do you think that exam dates are published too late? You are probably not alone. Both in your class and at faculty level, you have student representatives who work to improve everyday life for students at USN. We are here to speak up on your behalf and help you find solutions to challenges you face in your study situation. We also work to promote the student voice in cases that affect our student life at a more general level. This means that we meet with USN management, as well as other relevant parties, such as SSN and our host municipalities.

Class Representatives

All classes at USN must elect at least one class representative whose job is to represent the class and handle issues connected to their study programme. If you experience any challenges concerning the teaching or content of your study programme you can report this to your class representative. Your class representative is responsible for handling such issues in dialogue with your lecturers, course supervisors or programme coordinators.

Faculty Representatives

We also have student representatives at faculty level, called faculty representatives. They have the overall responsibility for cases and issues connected to your faculty. They also manage the student council which consists of all the class representatives at their faculty. This includes supporting and helping class representatives with cases and issues they are struggling with.We also have student representatives at faculty level, called faculty representatives. The Campus Board

At campus level we have what we call the campus board. This board consists of the campus manager and the campus deputy manager, as well as all the faculty representatives at campus. They have the overall responsibility for student cases at campus and they work to promote the student voice in meetings with USN, SSN and the host municipality.

International Committee

The International Committee works to safeguard the interests, well-being, and welfare of international students, and ensures that they are taken care of at USN. All students can contact the committee regarding matters that concern or directly affect internationalization or international students. The committee consists of one representative from each of USN’s eight campuses.

Wold you like to be a student representative?

The role as faculty representative and a campus board member requires that you speak a scandinavian language. However, you can still become a class representative and a member of the International Committee. Read more about the tasks and responsibilities of these roles.
