On Sunday the 17 of November, we mark International Students’ Day. Here at USN, we have around 1 000 international students, and today we celebrate you!

International Students’ Day has its origin in the commemoration of the more than 1,200 students at the University of Prague whose lives were taken during WWII. Today, International Students’ Day is a day where we showcase and celebrate international students and what they bring to our local communities.

We want to acknowledge the importance of international students in our learning environment, and the impact that multiculturalism has on our learning – both in the classroom and in our social, professional and private lives. We notice the lack of diversity on our campuses as a result of the government’s decision to make students coming from outside of the EU/EEA pay tuition. We work, together with the National Union of Students in Norway, to ensure that there are better options and opportunities for students, especially those coming from the Global South.

We hope you all have a wonderful day, and we encourage you to use your voice and let us know if there is anything we can help you with.
